Critical Deadline for NASA TechLeap: Orbital Clarity Challenge

Registration required by Wednesday, October 28, 2026, 5 PM Eastern Time.

A critical first deadline for joining NASA’s Orbital Clarity Challenge is fast approaching. All teams or individuals planning to participate in the Challenge must register their intent to participate to be eligible to submit a solution to the Challenge. Go to the Challenge Registration page to get started.

The Orbital Clarity Challenge is the sixth in the NASA TechLeap Prize series. A collaborative effort between NASA’s Heliophysics Division, Flight Opportunities program, and Center of Excellence for Collaborative Innovation, the challenge seeks to advance orbital drag measurement for safer, more predictable satellite flight paths.

NASA invites applicants to propose low-cost, scalable approaches that enable proliferated measurements of density, pressure, or drag in low Earth orbit. Up to four winners will each receive up to $500,000 to develop a flight-ready solution across three prize phases. In addition, NASA intends to provide an opportunity for the winning team(s) to demonstrate their solution in orbit, at no cost. For more information about the Challenge, visit the Orbital Clarity Challenge website.

You must register for the Challenge to be eligible to complete a submission.

  • Registration Deadline: Wednesday, October 28, 2026, 5 pm ET
  • Submittal Deadline: Wednesday, November 11, 2026, 5 pm ET
